European Cruise Day 10: At Sea

Disclaimer: These are all unedited and uncensored. They are raw emotion, intellect and information. I hope you enjoy my experiences.

*Miranda and Alyssa are my sisters and Thomas is my soon to be brother in law.*

I woke up feeling the booze from the past couple weeks. I’m surprised I hadn’t been hungover yet. I didn’t get quite 8 hrs of sleep so I’m sure that’s the reason. I also realized when running into the wall that my arms are a little bit sunburned. Nothing terrible but they are feeling hot. After feeling foggy we all met for breakfast at Windjammer. It started as just Alyssa and I and soon the while family trickled in! That’s pretty amazing, because on the sea days we have a hard time keeping track of each other.

We’re meeting at 12:30p to play putt putt together because my dad has wanted to have a family game this whole cruise. I’m looking forward to that.

My dad went to a captain’s discussion on about the ship. He came back with some very interesting facts:
- it’s 1000 ft long and 130 feet wide
- it’s 237 ft tall, 29 ft of that underwater
- it gets .031 miles to the gallon of diesel fuel
- it burns 2.2 tons (1 ton is 265 gallons) per hour
- It’s got a 4000 ton (about 1 mil gallons) gas tank so it can go one month without getting gas, but he gets gas every two weeks
- they have a system to evaporate the salt out of sea water to use to cook with, for guests to shower, etc
- the pools are filtered salt water directly from the sea

Some interesting stuff!

We played a very quick game of 9 hole putt putt because there were people waiting behind us. We thought of playing again but there were people waiting so we chose to come to a discussion of acupuncture and Chinese herbs. I’m excited to learn some more about this stuff.

It was a short but interesting presentation. We are now at Rhapsody in Blue, a sit down lunch place. We haven’t been here so we wanted to come check it out. I had a good salad and my family did the buffet. Miranda only had some spice rum cake which she poured water on after eating half. This is what she does to avoid eating more than she thinks she should. It makes me laugh. We met a couple who sat at our table here in the dining room. They have had a lot of cruise experience. They are boasting about Royal Caribbean like crazy! They’ve been on Norwegian before and say this is way better. They’re starting to complain about the way people are dressed during meals. I’m here in my ratty tan hat. Hahaha!

After a 45 minute nap in the pitch black room that Thomas and Alyssa received about complaining about their loud room, we went to BINGO. I almost won the jackpot! One number away. Bummer. But my friend Linda’s husband from Australia won and so I’m happy for them. Now I’m gonna play a little of the tune I began writing last night and see what comes of it before dinner.

It’s coming together! I have the beginnings of a bridge and that makes me happy. Now we’re at dinner and the cream of onion soup is splendid! We decided not to do karaoke tonight because there’s a game show. But karaoke tomorrow night for sure! I’m playing the guitar. That should be fun. A lot of fun. Everything is sexual to me right now. My dad asked what we’d eat when we got home. Miranda got the eye brow raise. I miss my girlfriend!

We’ve made friends with a few of the crew members and I’m beginning to feel sad to leave them. They are so wonderful! Agnes (agnesh or agi) from Hungary is so sweet. She’s our drink server. Marius from Romania is our wonderful server and he’s so kind and is a very hard worker. I’ll miss them!

My dad just made a great point: We’re sitting on a boat that was built in Finland, flags in the Bahamas, drinking wine from New Zealand and we’re watching Italy pass by. That is truly amazing. Life truly is amazing.

My mom decided to catch the end of the sunset last minute and RUNNOFT. Now I can’t find them…

I found them on the 4th deck in a very obscure place. I’m actually pretty impressed that I could find them because generally they are wandering souls. Afterwards I used the interwebs for a few moments before showering. Just after that my dad announced that we’re leaving in 10 minutes for the nightly headliner show. Tonight are all the ship’s orchestra, singers and dancers.

That show was incredible! They had everything from jazz to John Williams to Elton John. The orchestra was great, the four lead singers were AMAZING, the dancers were phenomenal. I was so impressed. Now we’re at The Quest. It’s an adults only game. As we walked in there was sexy techno playing and now they’re asking people on screen to kiss. I wonder what we’re in for. Sarah, my Italian eye candy, is looking gorgeous tonight and all I can think about is dancing with Britt. Ooo baby babay.

Oh my god! That game was wild! We all were in teams and then had to specific tasks. All were collecting items and it got crazy! Our team won 2nd and I got a hat! Pretty happy about that. Then we went to the Dragon’s Lair to continue the party and Miranda and I danced our faces off! So much fun. We met a really cool Aussie family that was on our team and we danced with them a bit before deciding we need to get some rest before our 9 hour Naples excursion tomorrow. Happy news! I got a picture with Sarah. That makes me happy happy happy. I want to show Britt. But no matter what, for the reals and to be completely honest, my GF is the most beautiful, gorgeous woman out there. European tail aside. I got the best. Damn I’m lucky. On that note, good night! :)
