Lightning Storms

I’m in the midst of the most incredible lightning storm I’ve ever seen. There are some sparse clouds hanging over the underpasses as I was driving that looked like a party fog machine dissipated. There wasn’t a lot of rain on the road so I could drive pretty fast. The lightning kept the sky lit like it was daylight while the spiderwebs light surrounded me with light. I tried rolling down the car windows to hear the thunder knowing it would be nearby and loud, but I couldn’t hear it over the rain on the road and against the windshield. Sometimes the lightning was hidden in the clouds and sometimes it was in plain view shooting across the sky like a dying star.

It’s night two and luckily I’m not driving tonight. I’m enjoying the mild show with some of my best friends. This is such a pleasure. The lightning looks like veins running through the sky. We chatted about how the chaos is contained. A friend called it organized chaos.

The temperature is so perfect and it’s more humid than I’ve ever felt in Colorado. I’m able to be outside underneath an awning so I can watch closely. The sound is rumbling like a bass guitar. I can feel it travelling through me. Where does it begin and where does it end? How much energy is up there that we can’t see? What does it take to make electricity become visual? It’s like a vast system of neurons in a giant cosmic brain. Energy is traveling at a constant basis. All these concepts inspire me so much. The idea of the constant trashed of energy. It’s all just as powerful as lightning and thunder. We just have to perceive it as so.

Bike ride to Cherry Creek reservoir, swim in said reservoir, Cherry Arts Festival, Girls Rock Denver meeting, friend’s going away BBQ. Sounds like a winning Independence Day Eve celebration to me!

My musical background is my father playing a grand piano all throughout my childhood.

Inspiration

I have a lucky life. I get to experience many things that most people don’t get to. Currently, I’m in the studio recording bass with an amazing vocalist and friend Jennifer Leigh. We’re recording a doo-wop song called Where E’er You Go. It’s really catchy and I’m so excited to be a part of the creation.

Being a studio bassist is something I’m really pumped to have the opportunity to do. It’s a part of my music career that I’ve always wanted to explore. And Jen is such an incredible singer! I’m a lucky person. I’ll be sure to share the link once we’ve got a final mix. I hope you all have a beautiful day.
